Eastern Central Missouri – The cities of Gerald, Owensville, and Belle, in proud collaboration with Friends of Rock Island Trail State Park, invite the public to join in celebrating a major milestone in Missouri’s trail development. A special Ribbon Cutting and Groundbreaking Event will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, to commemorate the progress and bright future of the Rock Island Trail.
This long-anticipated event marks the official opening of new trail segments and the groundbreaking of a future extension along the historic Rock Island corridor. Trail supporters, community members, and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to bring bicycles or walking shoes and be part of this celebratory day.
Event Schedule:
- 9:00 AM – Gerald Ribbon Cutting
Celebrate the opening of 1 mile of trail at the Gerald Trailhead
Location: Hwy 50, Gerald, MO - 11:00 AM – Owensville Ribbon Cutting
Join us for the grand opening of 2.5 miles of trail in Owensville
Location: Owensville City Hall, 107 W. Sears Ave, Owensville, MO - 1:00 PM – Belle Groundbreaking Ceremony
Help us break ground for the trail extension in Belle
Location: Zumwalt Feed Mill, 309 Hwy 28 East, Belle, MO - Reception to Follow
