Our Mission

Missouri Rock Island Trail, Inc., a coalition of communities, businesses, organizations, and citizens, seeks to preserve the Rock Island corridor as a linear park.

The vision of Missouri Rock Island Trail, Inc. is to create a world class linear park that preserves and enhances the landscape of Missouri; provides for a healthy environment and recreational opportunities; stimulates community pride and economic development;  and protects natural, cultural, and educational resources.

We Need You

Your support of MORIT today will help us educate the public on the benefits of the trail and address the concerns of the land owners along the corridor. Once the funding is complete and Missouri State Parks becomes the interim trail manager, MORIT will work with both MO State Parks and corridor communities to facilitate the construction and maintenance of the Rock Island Trail. Please support us in our mission.

URGENT REQUEST

Ameren is set to donate 144 miles of Rock Island Trail corridor to Missouri State Parks by the end of this year but State Parks leaders have recently said they are UNDECIDED about whether or not to accept the trail–a gift to the state worth many millions of dollars. A survey was created to help State Parks make the final decision about the Rock Island Trail. Please complete the survey by August 31, 2017.

A simple message of “Please accept the Rock Island Trail.” will help tremendously but feel free to expound on why you think it is a good idea.
