Summer-Fall 2026
Missouri’s Rock Island Trail communities are coming alive with a season full of fun, festivals, fairs, and heritage celebrations as trail towns continue building connections through Missouri’s newest state park corridor.
The Friends of Rock Island Trail State Park (FoRIT) has released the 2026 Rock Island Trail Community Calendar, a regional effort designed to highlight annual events and encourage visitors to experience the unique culture, traditions, and hospitality found throughout the Rock Island corridor. The calendar features community celebrations ranging from county fairs and music festivals to tractor pulls, fireworks, antique car cruises, Oktober fests, and unique heritage self-guided tours .
Communities featured include Pleasant Hill, Cole Camp, Windsor, Owensville, Gerald, Rosebud, Versailles, Stover, and Eldon, among others, showcasing the diversity of traditions and local pride found along the trail corridor.
FoRIT also wants visitors to learn more about the Missouri Humanities Council project “Rock Island Heritage Tour”, an initiative focused on sharing the stories, history, culture, and heritage of communities connected by the historic Rock Island rail corridor. https://theclio.com/tour/2784
The community calendar effort is part of a broader vision to encourage collaboration among the Rock Island Trail communities while promoting tourism, supporting local businesses, and strengthening regional identity through shared events and heritage experiences.
