Legislators Schedule Series of Rock Island Meetings
A series of informational meetings on the Rock Island Corridor have been scheduled by Reps. Tom Hurst and David Wood and Senator Mike Kehoe. State Parks Director Bill Bryan will cover what users, communities and neighbors can expect regarding trail heads, fencing, and crossings as the rail banking of the corridor proceeds.
MORIT encourages all trail supporters to attend one or all of the meetings to show our continued support of the trail.
Meetings will take place as follows.
- Owensville – Jan 21, 2016, 6:30PM
Owensville VFW Post 6133, 604 W. Jefferson, Owensville, MO
- Freeburg – Feb 11, 2016, 6:30PM
Freeburg American Legion Post 317 Hall, Freeburg, MO
- Eldon – Feb. 25, 6:30PM (Tentative)
Eldon High School Commons, Eldon, MO
It is very important that trail supporters attend these meetings, so that local elected officials and Missouri State Parks staff know how much strong local support there is for the trail.
This photo is of the Gasconade Co R-2 School District ilocated on Hwy. 19 east of Owensville. Students are not allowed to walk or bike to school because of safety issues. The rail-trail underpass will make it a Safe Route to School and provide a connection between the town and the school campus.
